Prospect Data Notice
This notice is for businesses and individuals who appear in Account Finder search results — not for our customers (sales representatives who use the Service), whose data is covered by our Privacy Policy. If you are a business owner, licensed professional, or other individual whose information appears in our results, this page explains what we collect, why, and how to have your record suppressed or deleted.
What Account Finder does
Account Finder helps sales teams in wine & spirits and several other consumer verticals find prospective business accounts to contact. To do this, we collect and process information about businesses, and in some cases business-registered individuals (such as licensed professionals), from public sources: state and federal licence and registry filings (for example TTB, state ABC boards, professional licence boards, IRS tax-exempt filings, SBA loan records), map and directory listings (Google Places, OpenStreetMap), and USDA, CMS, and NCES public datasets — together with proprietary curated datasets we compile in-house from such publicly available information (for example, hand-verified award and recognition lists). We combine this with a short, AI-generated commentary (a “why this account fits” note) for our paying customers, who are sales representatives evaluating whether to contact your business.
We do not process this data to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, and we do not sell it.
As part of this, we generate an AI-written “fit” score and ranking about your business for our customers' benefit. Where a listing represents an individual — for example, a sole practitioner or another business-registered individual — this scoring may constitute “profiling” under applicable data-protection law. As noted above, this profiling does not produce legal or similarly significant effects: it is a discretionary sales-lead ranking that a human sales representative reviews and may disregard, not an automated decision made about you. You can request suppression or deletion of your record at any time using the process below.
Our role and legal basis
For this processing, Account Finder is the controller of the data — meaning we decide what sources to use and how the data is processed, rather than acting on a customer's instructions. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our lawful basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): enabling lawful business-to-business sales intelligence from publicly available and regulatory-filed business information, a long-standing and lawful category of processing comparable to commercial business directories.
In plain terms: the information we hold about you is generally business contact information sourced from records that are already public — a licence you hold, a permit you filed, or a listing you or your business maintains. We weigh our interest in providing this service against your interest in how your business information is used, and we take into account that this is not sensitive personal data, that it comes from sources you or your business already made public, and that a licensed or registered business can reasonably expect to appear in commercial directories of this kind.
Data we may hold about you
- Business name, address, and category or licence type;
- Publicly listed contact details (phone, business email, or website) where available from the source record;
- For certain regulated professions, the name of the licensed individual associated with a business listing;
- A short AI-generated note summarizing why the account may be relevant to one of our customers.
Your rights: suppression and deletion
If you are a business or individual who appears in our results and you would like your record suppressed from future collection, or deleted from what we currently hold, email privacy@accountfinder.app with your business name and location (city and state, or full address if you have it). No account or prior relationship with us is required to make this request.
We will act on your request within 30 days and will not re-add your record on future data refreshes.
Retention
We retain prospect records for as long as they remain relevant to the Service and are refreshed periodically from the sources above. Records are removed or refreshed when a source is updated, when they become stale, or when you request suppression as described above.
How this notice relates to our other policies
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle data belonging to our account-holder customers. This notice covers the separate category of third-party prospect data described above. Our Terms of Service govern use of the Service by our customers.
